The Enchanted Island
This is a story of an imaginary kingdom during the middle ages. A spell had been cast on the Prince of the kingdom at the time of his birth by a wicked witch, so that if the Prince was to ever step onto the floor of the castle he would instantly be under her power.
As the play begins, the young Prince has been wheeled around the castle on a golden cart his entire life. He pleads with his father, the King, to let him step onto the floor but the King refuses. This time the Prince disobeys and steps onto the floor. Instantly there is a loud thunder and the Prince disappears.
 |
The Prince finds himself on a enchanted island far away. The Wicked Witch appears before him and tells him he is totally under her power and gives him impossible tasks to do in the hopes that he will fail and she will have an excuse to punish him. She rides around on a dragon she calls Applesauce.
|
| The Prince secretly befriends Applesauce and obtains his help in accomplishing the tasks. |

Another creature appears, fanciful, friendly and humanlike. She is a gnome also under the witch's spell. The two of them and Applesauce manage to accomplish the witch's tasks which become increasingly difficult.
One of the tasks is to produce a magic carpet covered with golden jewels before sunset. The Gnome remembers how to summon the Genie of the Winds who grants this request. Finally the Prince is given a task to build a castle on top of the highest mountain before sunset.
They head for the mountain to see what can be done but are seen by the witch who plots to push them over the cliff. The Witch sneaks up behind the Prince and startles him. He turns just in time and accidentally pushes the witch off the cliff.
The enchantment now broken, the gnome turns into a beautiful Princess then the King's royal fleet appears in the distance to take the Prince and the Princess back to his kingdom where they marry and live happily ever after.

The Prince, cursed at birth, cannot step on the floor without coming under the power of the Wicked Witch.

The King demands his son, the Prince, follow his command.

The Gnome is released from the Wicked Witch's spell and becomes a beautiful Princess again.
The Prince and Princess, of course, live happily ever after.
