The Grass Forest What is it like to be as small as an ant? In the "Grass Forest" the leading character, Wilbur, finds out what it is like to be an ant. He is a lazy fellow who avoids all work. Seeing the ants in the grass, he wishes to be as small as the ants and not have any work to do. The Butterfly of Wishes and Dreams hears his wish and grants it, and suddenly Wilbur is indeed as small as an ant. Now Wilbur finds himself in a forest of huge grass trees. The ants are as big as he is. He meets several of the ants in the colony. The Queen Ant tells Wilbur that he can remain and live with them in the colony provided that he do his share of the work. She assigns him the task of keeping the grains of sand out of the throne room. Wilbur is surprised that there is work. Soon Wilbur's wife, Maude, tramps about in the grass looking for Wilbur and calling his name. She comes very close and almost steps on the anthill. Everthing shakes and grains of sand fall into the throne room. Grains of sand? Why they look like huge boulders. Suddenly Wilbur realizes that to an ant, a grain of sand would be like a big rock. He tries to lift them but is not strong enough to even budge the huge grains of sand. The Queen returns to find the throne room full of sand and orders Wilbur to leave the colony. Will Wilbur learn that doing his share of work isn't so hard after all? Find out what happens to Wilbur in the "Grass Forest." This show is suitable for all ages and runs approximately 45 minutes. |
