Wonder Mountain "Wonder Mountain" is an educational and entertaining story about a folklore legend from the Philippines. Legend has it that a group of gremlin-like creatures, called the Anitos, live in a volcano and only come out to steal small bits of food and cause some mischief. When the volcano erupts, the evil Anito King appears to find the most beautiful girl in the village to take back to the volcano to be his wife. The Anitos are invisible to humans but animals can clearly see them. In the nearby village, a couple named Pedro and Maria are engaged to be married, but Maria's father is tense. He knows Maria is the most beautiful girl on the island and worries that, when the volcano erupts, the Anito King will surely take her away. The sky starts to darken. The Earth begins to tremble. The volcano erupts and Maria vanishes! Pedro and his dog, Banana, realize they must rescue Maria from the Anito King and begin the adventure. Pedro and Banana enter the volcano and meet other Anitos who are friendly. Banana can see the Anitos in the fire light of the volcano. Do Pedro and Banana rescue Maria? Will Maria become the Anito Queen? You'll have to see Wonder Mountain. The show includes various animals including Caribou, wild pigs and Applesauce, YUP YUP YUP. The show is approximately 45 minutes but please allow an hour for each performance. |
Wonder Mountain is an original story written by Ed Johnson, my father and the crreator of Johnson Marionettes, after returning from the Philippines where he was stationed during World War II. I have received many compliments on these special effectsin this show. The Play includes an exciting volcano eruption! We also travel inside a volcano which has some spectacular scenery. Schools in which I have performed this program tell me this is the most exciting and enertaining show yet. When I was young, I used to watch my dad perform all of his shows. This one was always my favorite. Greg Johnson |
